AN: AU of some nature

"Are those scales? Are those actual scales?" Dread asked as he examined his little imp's ..ah.. new acquisition.

Peak just fixed him with a look that screamed he honestly couldn't believe that Dread had just asked that. "Yes," he bit out. "And you can thank your mad scientist for this one."

"Being vague there," Dread said. "I have quite a few, if you recall."

"Come closer so I can smack you with this thing," Peak grumbled, before he crossed his arms over his chest. "The one that makes it sound like I'm gargling with broken glass when I try to say their name."

Dread winced. "Did he say *why*?" Hopefully there was a logical explanation for why he turned the human into a merman, because right now, he was failing to find one.

but then, we did have Dread pull a Loki in actor'verse so XD]

the bunny giving me the most grief is the Aaron/Iranda one. I can't find a decent bunny for that one

Or have it that a human Iranda says that to a merman Aaron or maybe even a mermaid Iranda to a human Aaron.

I did have a tiny bunny but it totally thumbed it's nose at anything resembling canon [Iranda's teaching a little mermaid to sing and Aaron and his eldest encounters the pair] so heeeeeeeeeh...

[So many fun lines on that list - I totally could see actor!Z giving actor!Dread the flattest of flat looks and snarking about how much he was stealing Loki's shtick XD]

AN: total AU

Aaron walked quietly along the shoreline with his eldest son, enjoying the rare quiet moment since they were becoming so few and far between due to an increase in his duties.

"Do you hear that?" Z'neth asked his father quietly.

Aaron was about to ask 'hear what?' when he heard the soft trilling of something. He nodded to himself and glanced over at his son. "Shall we investigate then?'

Z'neth nodded and followed his father to see if they could find the source.

Iranda was sitting on a rock, her voice floating up and down the scale. A smaller female mermaid sat there, awestruck by the elder mermaid's voice. "Now you," she said, gently coaching the young one.

Ilona gave a tiny gulp but nodded. Her voice was soft and a little shaky.

Iranda nodded to herself before noticing they had company. Her eyes widened and she shoved the small one off the rock, hoping the humans hadn't spotted the child.

"I heard you sing. It really was the most beautiful sound," Aaron said.

Iranda blushed, caught off guard by the compliment. "Thank you," she said slowly.

Z'neth glanced over at the slowly surfacing mermaid and gave her a small smile, which she shyly returned.

"My name is Aaron and that's my eldest, Z'neth," he began, introducing the pair. "May I ask who you are?"

"I am Iranda," she said. "The little one is my godchild, Ilona."

"It is a true honor to meet you both. Please, continue on. My son and I will remain silent for you."

Iranda gave a small nod and coaxed her goddaughter out of the water to once more settle on the rocks and sing."

While it's nice, Iranda is surprisingly trusting of this, considering that she did push Ilona out of the way to keep her safe. Just that willing to take a chance?

Also, how old is Z'neth here?

That and she's confident that the two of them are the faster swimmers so if they have to escape.

AN: AU like whoa!

"You don't have to be afraid of me. I only want to see your tail," Dread said, moving slowly towards the wounded sea creature on the shore. He mentally cursed out whoever was stupid enough to use a net with hooks on it to catch fish. He breathed an oath under his breath as he slowly moved closer.

It was a male - that much was clear. And he was young - probably not much older than seventeen if he went by human years. His eyes were the same color as the sea he emerged from - eyes that were frantically darting about as if expecting something worse then being tangled in a net would, could happen.

Dread had to steady himself as he finally made it to the youth's side and slowly began the task of cutting him free. He couldn't resist the urge to touch the wheat blond hair that crowned the youth's head.

The meryouth just stared wide-eyed.
