so, went looking at the cover art for the IDW Jem series when I saw this issue:

replacing a canonical character with your original character as the leader of the Misfits? Really? Something about this annoys the crap out of me

Are you reading Jem? Pizzazz is currently out of commission due to a throat injury sustained during a bad car accident. They have to replace her with someone for their big tour. I find it a little convenient that they're using what I consider the artist's self-insert, but I'm not surprised because she has connections to the band via Clash.

I saw on the tvtropes.org page that she had been in an accident - just not to the extent there of. But now that you've explained the reason she's out of commission - I can understand it, just not keen on it being the self-insert. I would have loved to have possibly seen one of the other girls step up as lead and Clash coming in as a back-up, but that's just my personal feeling regarding the whole replacement issue. [that and well, there's the nostalgia factor with Pizzazz being the lead singer]

I'd have to special order the comics since I hadn't seen them in there bar the first issue and the one issue where the Holograms are riffing on 80s movies [Jem had the Teen Wolf with Michael J Fox as her story].

They sell really well. You should tell your store to carry them. Or if they're any halfway decent comic shop, they should do orders and pulls.

it's a pretty good shop - I've had them order issues for me before [and I do have a bunch of points that are waiting for some use - I can use that for a bunch of stuff: trades, back issues, figures]. Next time I get the urge to go - I need to get back to picking up my He-Man comics [so behind in that].

did you pick up the holiday special for Jem - I glanced at the art and it was pretty cute but I'm waffling on it
