AN: set way pre-series

Aaron stood by Iranda's shoulder, his eyes focused on the small green line that kept blipping up and down and that soft thumping that was heard. He glanced down at his wife, smiling softly at her.

Iranda's blue eyes were focused on the blurry, grainy image that the doctor was showing them. Oh, he was [it was a he, wasn't it?] was so small. Her attention drifted from the image to paying attention to that soft sound. "Ayumi, what's that noise?"

Ayumi smiled at her colleague. "Iranda, Aaron, that noise? That's all the confirmation I need to know that you're having a very healthy baby boy," she said.

"Z'neth," Ilona said, squirming a little as he kissed her. Damn it, why wasn't he listening to her? Okay, so she had just gotten out of medbay and he had just gotten off shift but still, he could listen to her. "Z'neth," she tried again.

Z'neth just continued to kiss his girlfriend, not hearing her calling his name.

"Z'neth!" she tried again, her eyes glancing about. Damn it, this was decidedly not a good sign. "Z'neth!"

He finally stopped, his hands lightly holding her shoulders. "Yes?" he asked with a sigh.

"Um, while you were trying to make out with me? Um, it kind of caused the rest of the dragonators to stop whatever they were doing and they're kind of, sort of an audience?" Ilona offered up, blushing.

Z'neth paused, glancing over her head to notice the audience. He let out an irritated sigh and let her go. "You think they'd never saw a man kissing his girlfriend before," he sighed.

Z'neth sighed quietly as he climbed up the mountain. Why he couldn't use Riptor to fly to the top was something he didn't understand. He hissed a curse as the rock he reached for came free from the cliff face, tumbling to the ground below. He steeled himself and reached for another rock. Whatever was at the top of this mountain better be worth it.

-

He glanced up at the building before him, a chill running down his spine as he stared at the giant stone skull. Yet, yet there was something familiar about this place.

He shook his head, clearly trying to dismiss those alien thoughts. He made his way inside, all the while trying to shake the feeling of being watched.

-

"Zoar," a soft feminine voice murmured. "Guide him to his destiny."

The hawk nodded at the female hidden within the shadows. With a cry, he flew off, intent on following his mistress's orders.

A soft smile crossed the woman's delicate features. "You've come back, my darling," she whispered.

-

Z'neth glanced at the circling hawk. There was just something familiar about it, just what he wasn't sure. Well, the hawk seemed to where he was going, so, when in doubt... He really wished he could shake this growing feeling of deja vu.

-

His brown eyes spotted the sword, something that struck a chord deep within him. He approached slowly, his hand reaching for the pommel. He stopped, his eyes glancing up and spotting the figure in the shadows. "Show yourself."

The figure slowly emerged from the shadows. She smiled softly at him, her gaze gentle.

Z'neth tilted his head as he studied her. A name long forgotten was on the tip of his tongue, and he couldn't understand why he remembered it. "Sorceress," he whispered.
