Date: 2015-06-18 04:06 pm (UTC)Aaron stood in the doorway to his son's room, a sad expression on his aged features as he watched his eldest examine his changed appearance - revealing what he truly was. He slowly made his way in and settled down next to him. "I only wanted to protect you from the truth," he said quietly. He privately wished Iranda had still been with them because she could have explained this so much better than he could. It had been her that insisted they raise the small mutant child that she had found abandoned during one of her exploratory trips to Old Earth, had agreed with one of the doctors that they could give him some sort of injection that would make him appear human so no questions could be asked regarding his origin..
His eldest said nothing for a long moment before he slanted his golden gaze towards his father. "How long have you known?" he asked, his voice sounding different.
"I had my suspicions regarding your true parentage for some time now, but nothing that I could put into words," he admitted. "But this," he said, gesturing to his son's changed form. "Changes nothing. You are still my son, appearance be damned."
The young mutant raised his head to look at his father in all things but blood. "What happens now?" he asked quietly.
"I have that meeting with Joshua," he said, tilting his head back as he thought. "But remember, no matter what, you're still Z'neth and you're still my son."

And also, did Aaron know or didn't he? The first half makes it clear that Aaron always knew Z'neth was a mutant but then the middle and second half make it out that he wasn't aware, just suspicious?

Yeah, I was trying to fix that but the bunny flitted off. I think he knew Z was a mutant but not sure on who the parents were until Z became of age, if that makes sense

Date: 2015-06-19 11:33 pm (UTC)Okay on the 'who knows' group, but I'm still confused as to why Z'neth had to be altered from a mutant to a human.
And how would Aaron be able to just know Z'neth's heritage from looking at him? From what we can tell, Dread and his crew are the only mutants Airlandis has ever faced.

Date: 2015-06-19 11:40 pm (UTC)I'm also leaning towards it wasn't an intentional abandonment, but the result of the parents having gotten killed by Dread's enemies. Thoughts?

Date: 2015-06-19 11:58 pm (UTC)But then why was Z'neth left out in the insinuated open? If Dread's enemies killed his parents, they would have killed Z'neth too or at least taken him as a hostage.
