Dandelion - Z'neth [Peak and Ilona]

AN: part of that massive Balm/Cactus/Myrtle/Purple Hyacinth/Snowdrop universe [will probably expand on this later]
Z'neth knelt down awkwardly in the garden, still trying to get used to the metallic replacements for his badly damaged limbs that he had to get following his rescue/escape. Thankfully, Cifex understood what he was going through. He knew exactly what to do and was able to help with the maintenance for the replacements, hell, he even started to fine-tune them for him.
[At the moment, his left arm was currently sitting on Zarkan's lab table - getting an adjustment or three for various reasons. Cifex had to remind Zarkan that Ilona wouldn't appreciate a laser cannon or a wind jammer accidentally going off if there was a hiccup in the system so that was a firm 'no' to the laser cannon and the wind jammer. And Z'neth most decidedly would *not* approve of a tattoo of a dragon on his arm - at least, not until he got a chance to see the design]
He studied the dandelions that were littering the garden and made move to grab one with his good [and currently only hand] when he heard Peak clearing his throat behind him. "Peak?" he asked, turning his head so he could look at his younger brother.
"Leave 'em," Peak said, moving to sit down next to his older brother and reached for a different weed that shouldn't be there. "Apparently, Ilona likes the damn weeds. Says they mean something. Not to mention she actually uses them."
Z'neth quirked a brow but let the dandelion live [for now - there was still a chance he'd remove it later]. "Huh," he said, not sure what to say to that.
"They mean faithfulness," Ilona said, coming to stand behind her husband, resting a small hand on his shoulder. "I felt they were.. fitting.."
Z'neth glanced up at his wife and smiled softly at her. She had been so faithful to him and she had been his light in the darkness during those long years away from her. "Very," he agreed, knowing at this point getting rid of the weeds was *not* an option at all.
-
Z'neth settled down on the sofa, his arm wrapped around Ilona's waist, holding her close to him. "I was thinking," he began softly. "The dandelion is definitely our flower."
She looked up at him, a silent 'go on' clear on her features.
"You remained faithful to me through the entire time I was missing and I remained faithful to my memories of you, knowing, praying that one day, we'd be together again. But even before that, during our courtship when people thought I'd be seduced away by my career, by being around female dragonators who made it clear they wanted me. I stayed loyal, faithful to you, because I loved you and only you. Nothing could ever replace you in my eyes. Because you were the best thing that ever happened to me and I never wanted to lose that."
Tears sparkled in Ilona's eyes and she snuggled closer to her husband. "But I draw the line at naming our daughter Dandelion," she said, chuckling quietly.
Z'neth laughed, recalling belatedly his wife's ability to read his thoughts and his her's. [They still hadn't figured out how this bond occurred - and privately, he was grateful that whatever caused the bond had put a block on it during those long years apart. It would have killed him to know she was suffering from what he was going through] "Wouldn't dream of asking," he chuckled.
"Good," she said, her eyes slowly drifting close and she quietly dozed.
Z'neth stroked her long hair, staring into the distance as he recalled adventures and misadventures from his youth, ones that had came so close to taking her from him but he always found away to come back to her. He allowed his eyes to close and he drifted off to sleep - his first peaceful sleep in a long time.

Date: 2014-06-04 05:03 pm (UTC)and I've been waffling on that - a part of me wants to say yes but then it doesn't explain why she didn't go out to see Z'neth [unless he arrived at the house while she was on duty.. ::ponders::]
