Fantasy'verse: Prompt: Threat [rewrite]
Jun. 7th, 2014 11:08 pmAN: rewriting this
In the year 4225, the fifth year of Dread Wing, the Lord of Old Earth's reign, the biggest threat to his reign had yet to be born. Within the sixth month of the fifth year, during a random tour of his ever expanding empire, Lord Dread Wing spotted a delicately built human female being courted by a human male, a soldier if going by his garb. Something stirred deep within the mutant lord - just what he wasn't sure, but he knew he had to have her, to possess her. Perhaps it was the golden blonde hair [now that was a color and a trait he wasn't quite sure what to think about] that caught his attention first, perhaps it was the softly tanned skin - showing that she was capable of working and not being overly pampered, perhaps it was the blue eyes - the color of the sky above the accursed warp winds, but whatever attribute it was, it was enough to make him look over the glaring problem of her humanity.
The details of how he courted her, wooed her, won her were lost in some forgotten history book, but in the end Lord Dread Wing claimed the [unwilling] Lady Iranda - and unwittingly set into motion the very events that would lead to his downfall.
In the year 4227, the seventh year of his reign, the crown prince, Attor, Son of Dread Wing, Lord of Old Earth was born. Elsewhere, in the remote human village of Crystallia, two young boys were born, mere hours apart. The first was born to a noted family of craftsmen while the second was born to a family with the gift of prophecy, of foresight. The two families had already made arrangements to have their firstborns married when they came of age - the fact that both were males did little to derail the future martial plans.
In the year 4229, the ninth year of his reign, Snare, the second born son of Dread Wing arrived. The two year old crown prince merely wrinkled his nose at being informed he had a younger brother - clearly displeased by the fact that he now had to share his [oh so very limited] time with his mother with this new interloper. Elsewhere, in the remote human village of Alayas, a small human girl was born and abandoned on the steps of a church [one that was lead by the true love of the Lady Iranda, Father Aaron Arlan]. On the day the girl child was born, the crown prince found his attention drift and felt something stir in his soul.
In the year 4233, the thirteenth year of his reign, Inoxia, the only daughter of Dread Wing arrived - a slight surprise to be sure. Most mutants never had more then two children, especially due to the lack of resources to sustain them, but due to his high station, Dread was able to support this growing family. Initially reluctant to acknowledge that he indeed had a girl child, the thought of using her as a tool to expand his territory through marriage slowly began to appeal to him. The six year old Attor grumbled under his breath about having yet another sibling to deal with, while the four year old Snare wasn't at all interested in the fact he had a sibling. Elsewhere, a cyborg slowly came online, awakening after a millennia of 'sleep'. There was also rejoicing to be had in Crystallia as a girl child was born to the family of the craftsmen. And, like his brother before him, on the day this girl child was born, Prince Snare felt something unfamiliar stir in his soul - and he wasn't sure he liked it very much.
In the year 4240, the twentieth year of his reign, his final son, Petrify arrived - much to everyone's surprise. The feelings about this son were decidedly mixed - given not only his more human appearance then his other siblings but the fact that being born with his wings permanently extended had caused damage to his mother, rendering her unable to bear more children. The thirteen year old Attor studied this newborn, silently pondering what kind of future he would have - and decided something there and then. Eleven year old Snare merely felt confused, unsure of what to do with a younger brother, bar wait for him to get old enough to spar with him. Seven year old Inoxia dismissed the babe entirely - not caring one way or the other what the fate of the babe would be, there were far more interesting things to attend to, like trying to figure out the source of her strange headaches and that odd pull on her soul. In another remote human village, another small human girl was born to a family of warriors. The young prince merely slept on, content - unaware of the spark of magic that was now forming in his soul.
