Z'neth slowly recalled that the next time he forgot to call and ask if his girlfriend was decent, that he really shouldn't be surprised when she slapped him upside the head for getting an eyeful [especially since she was trying very hard not to tempt him into doing certain activities before their wedding]. He held the ice pack to his cheek, trying the sad puppy eyes that usually melted her.

"Not falling for it this time," she said, keeping her shoulders stiff and her back to him as she worked on making dinner. Still, she thought as she chanced a glance over her shoulder, he really did look cutely pathetic right now. She sighed and set the knife down on the counter and made her way over. "Okay, let me see," she said, lowering the ice pack. She gave a tiny wince. "Ooh, I got you a good one that time."

"Did you really have to throw your copy of War and Peace at me?" he asked dryly.

"First thing I could grab that wouldn't embarrass me," she sniffed.

Of all the things that he had predicted, the union between his son [really Aaron's but that was water under the dam at this point and they had stopped bickering over who was the father and settled into a comfortable working relationship to deal with the aftermath of Attor's finding out the truth about his origins] and the young healer [that blowhard Joshua's ward but was more of a daughter to Aaron since Aaron spent more time with her since Joshua seemed to fixated on Council then to notice he had a girl child to help raise] was not something he really would have predicted.

Still, he thought as he adjusted the veil on the girl's head for the seventh time [why was he acting like this? He was Dread Wing, Lord of Old Earth. He was not a fussy Mama Hen, fussing over a child who was getting married], he did not want to be the one that even attempted to record this in that family bible of Aaron's - it was far too complicated for him to even try to figure out.
