Summit rolled his shoulders as he stood at watch, wishing he could be anywhere but there. It had been two years since his elder brother had vanished to parts unknown [he wasn't sure about the rumor that a woman had been involved. Z'neth had too big an icicle up his ass to actually be interested in a woman] without a sighting of him that he was starting to give up hope of ever seeing him again. He took a steadying breath and moved so he could watch below him - Apex was flitting about the gardens, talking with one of the female nobles [and here his eye twitched at the sight of her flirting with one of the other guards]. His younger brother was probably either in the library, reading some musty old tome or he was with that older nobleman [what did he say his name was again? "What trouble have you gotten yourself into this time?" he asked softly. "None, huh," he mused at the hawk's offended glare. "All right, my beauty, I'll believe you." He let out a wearied sigh. "Two years, dear heart, and nothing. But it'll end, one way or another, it will end."
The hawk merely bobbed her head in agreement before settling down on her usual perch on his shoulder.
